ST. JOHN’S, Antigua (December 30, 2022)—All registration units will open from 4 pm to 6 pm to facilitate the collection of voter identification cards, starting Tuesday, January 3, 2023, the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC) announced.
ABEC stressed that the only function of the respective offices is for ID collection, and individuals must present government identification at the point of collection.
Individuals awaiting voter ID cards because of transferring from one constituency to the next must await a phone call from ABEC to advise them when their cards will be ready for collection at the headquarters on Queen Elizabeth Highway.
With general elections just under three weeks away, on January 18, 2023, ABEC is also announcing that only individuals who registered until November 30, 2022 are eligible to vote. “The process for claims and objections for this period will come to an end on January 9th, 2023,” the statement read.
The window for transfers to vote on January 18 is also closed, meaning individuals with new addresses who have not begun the process must vote where they are currently registered.
